paperwork submitted :)

My family has been in town visiting from out of state for the last several days so I have to make this quick.

I had my LAST WEIGH IN this morning!!  Now my paperwork is being submitted to the insurance company.

According to the surgeon's scale I lost a total of 25 pounds since August 12---from 215 to 190.  In December I only lost 3 pounds.  Dang holidays!  Buuuuuuut I'll take it.  Usually I gain 5, so losing 3 is a victory.

The nutritionist told me that my insurance company is typically pretty quick and that if I haven't heard something a week from today to call my surgeon's office and let the PA know.

OMG, so now I feel like I'm 39 weeks pregnant all over again.  Time is standing still.

  4. I love your comment about being 39 weeks pregnant. It is so true. I didn't have to be approved but the countdown to surgery was stress filled and hopeful. Good luck. Have my fingers crossed that all goes well.

  5. I believe this is what the song lyrics, "The waiting is the hardest part" refer to. I've been reading back through your blog a bit and I want to offer you some encouragement. You've done great on your diet and I can tell you've really worked at it. Even with a band, you have to work at it, but it is so much easier. Not easier as in the "easy way out", but easier as in POSSIBLE. For one thing there is very little hunger once you have good restriction. I found that my preocupation (obsession) with food was greatly diminished.

And your doctor who is so negative about the lap-band really needs to do some reasearch on obesity. If she did she'd know that 97% of all obese people who diet will FAIL to lose the excess weight and keep it off for one year. If you look at 5 year statistics, the number falls to a less than 1% success rate. DIETS DON'T WORK in the long-term and the time has come to stop blaming the dieter and look at the real reasons WHY they don't work.

So fingers crossed for insurance approval. If that doesn't happen, I would encourage you to consider self-pay options. I had my surgery in Mexico for $6,000. It was a wonderful experience. Others have had their surgery in the US for reasonable cost too. There are options and it really does work.
